2022 mag met recht het herdenkingsjaar van de legendarische jazzdrummer Paul Motian (maart 1931 - november 2011) genoemd worden. Met grote optredens einde deze zomer in New York, waar een fascinerende groep jazzmuzikanten die met Motion hebben gewerkt, zijn muziek eerden. Geïnspireerd door Motian namen gitarist Jakob Bro en saxofonist Joe Lovano eerder al Once Around The Room op, een album dat nu in de winkels ligt. Bro werkte in zijn jonge muzikale jaren al met Motian en maakte zijn ECM- debuut via Motian op diens album Garden of Eden (2006). Lovano werkte samen met gitarist Bill Frisell als het illustere trio dat, met gasten als Charlie Haden, Marc Johnson...
