Het is best even wennen als je Bird on a Swing hoort, de openingstrack van het nieuwe Cory Hanson album I Love People. Bekend met zijn wat rafelige stijl klinkt hij hier ineens als een ware singer-songwriter met rijke begeleiding en zijn stem klinkt beter en directer dan ooit. De song raakt aan het rijke muzikale verleden van de Laurel Canyon en is een flinke stap van zowel zijn eerste drie soloalbums als de albums die hij met zijn band Wand maakt.
