Het tweede solo album van Julian Cope verscheen nog geen 6 maanden na voorganger World Shut Your Mouth. Het bleek een nog indrukwekkender collectie songs dan de voorganger. Fried kan zelfs het eerste Julian Cope-meesterwerk genoemd worden.
