Vier jaar geleden overleed Glen Campbell na een lang aanslepende Alzheimer periode. Na de  diagnose in 2010 bleef hij optreden en maakte de uit Arkansas afkomstige Rhine Stone Cowboy, die ook buiten de wat bekrompen country & western wereld scoorde, nog enkele werkstukjes zoals Ghosts On The Canvas. Voordien werd Meet Glen Campbell uitgebracht in 2008. Hetzelfde jaar gaf de man nog een concert in TheTroubadour, de legendarische club in LA, het werd zijn laatste geregistreerd live- show. In navolging van Johnny Cash en Neil Diamond had hij na zijn zeventigste verjaardag op Meet Glen Campbell zijn persoonlijke versie van enkele klassiekers van de jongere generatie vastgelegd.
