Tijdens de verplichte sabbatical pandemie zondert zangeres/gitarist Adrianne Lenker zich af om in alle rust aan haar Songs and Instrumentals tweeluik te werken. In haar kortstondig kluizenaarsbestaan stelt ze zich niet geheel wereldvreemd op. Ze houdt weldegelijk met haar drummende Big Thief collega James Krivchenia contact, en ondanks dat zijn aandeel op haar solo uitstapje ontbreekt treffen ze elkander wel bij de bevriende singer-songwriter Mary Elizabeth Remington. Deze folky werkt in dezelfde periode in Embudo aan In Embudo, welke ze na afronding stilletjes op 1 juni 2020 in eigen beheer uitbrengt.
